Booths captured in three districts of Nepal

Kathmandu, Apr 10 : Polling booths have reportedly been captured in Lalitpur, Dolakha and Baglung districts of Nepal.

The Election Commission (EC) of Nepal has initiated an investigation after receiving complaints of booth capturing by Maoists in Kaleshwor, Thula Durlung and Gumdi in Lalitpur constituency.

According to local reports, Nepali Congress (NC) supporters captured two pollingooths in Gaumudi Constituency in Dolakha District while the Maoists have captured a booth in Malu and the Communist Party of Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) has captured a booth in Sahare of the same constituency.

Similarly, Rastriya Janamorcha has captured a booth in Rangkhani in Baglung Constituency.

Clashes between the cadres of major political parties have also been reported in some districts.

In Sonapur of Sunsari District, cadres of the NC and CPN (Maoist) clashed following a dispute. At least 13 persons were injured, two of them seriously, in the scuffle.

There was also a violent clash between cadres of NC and CPN (UML) in Laukaha of Rautahat District. The clash left 15 persons injured on both sides.

The nepalnews.com reported that Maoists and UML cadres have clashed in Rayal Garjeni of far-western Bajhang District, prompting the security personnel to open fire, and the situation had come under control after the police intervened.
