2nd win for Swami Vivekanand, DAV, Santhome in Boost Cup

Mumbai, Apr 10 (UNI) Mumbai champions Swami Vivekanand High School notched up their second victory on the trot, outplaying Presidency School, Bangalore by 188 runs in the Group B league match of the Boost Cricket Cup Inter-City Challenge at Police Gymkhana Ground here today.

Also recording consecutive wins were strong contenders DAV Chandigarh and Santhome, Chennai, getting the better of Neelambai Subramaniam School, Salwan, Delhi respectively.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Swami Vivekanand built their total of 296 for six in 45 overs with useful contributions from six of their batsmen. Sandeep Joshi's 65 and Harmeet Singh's unbeaten knock of 60 from just 37 deliveries were the highlights of the innings. But padding it up were knocks of Pratik Gawli's 45, Shivam Mishra's 42, captain Siddesh Lad's 40 and Feli Soni's 29.

The Vivekanand bowling also clicked to scuttle the Bangalore school's innings at 108 all out. Right arm medium pacer Manan Shah scalped two for 27, while off break bowler Lad and left arm spinner Harmeet Singh also shared two wickets each.

DAV had it easy against the whipping boys from Salem, getting them out for a mere 66 before hitting the winning runs for the loss of two wickets.

The surprise of the day was Santhome's strong performance while scoring a five-wicket win over Salwan Boys, Delhi. Salwan Boys, known for their big hitting were restricted to 171 for nine in 45 overs while Santhome hit the winning runs in 40.2 overs with five wickets to spare.

Neelambal Subramaniam High School, Salem 66 all out in 15 overs (Rohit Rathi 7/23, Pankaj Gohar 2/31) lost to DAV School, Chandigarh 67 for 2 in 6 overs (Shahnawaz Mirza 46, R Shriniwasan 2/24) Man of the Match: Rohit Rathi.

Salwan Boys School, Delhi 171 for 9 in 45 overs (Yatharth Tomar 26, Dilip Dhunna 22) lost to Santhome High School, Chennai 172 for 5 in 40.2 overs (S S Xavier 65, S Dinesh 56, Pratik Kaushik 2/22, Ajay Chauhan 2/43) Man of the Match: S S Xavier.

St John's Jr College, Hyderabad 187 all out in 39.2 overs (Achintiya Rao 58, Aakash A 40, Karan Shah 4/29, Paramjit Singh 2/41, Deven Manola 2/26) lost to Vidyakunj High School, Baraoda 189 for 5 in 30.1 overs (Paramjit Singh 66, Shakil Patel 60, Abhinay Reddy 1/28) Man of the Match: Paramjit Singh.
