Chandigarh, Apr 9 (UNI) The public sector MMTC Ltd, the leading international trading company of India, will host its flagship event 'Festival of Gold' for the first time in Chandigarh from April 11 to 14.
The four-day exhibition-cum-sale will showcase over 50,000 pieces of unique gold and studded jewellery manufactured by master craftsmen from all regions of India, MMTC Chief General Manager Ashish Majumdar told reporters here today.
On display will be contemporary, ethnic, traditional and modern jewellery designs, he said.
He said MMTC was the first organisation to hold Hallmarked Jewellery Exhibition-Festival of Gold in Delhi (first exhibition was held in Delhi in 1994). ''It is now an annual feature in Delhi and other major cities like Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai and Panaji.'' MMTC, he said, was bringing under one roof jewellery from Kolkata, Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Goa and other jewellery manufacturing centres of India. The range of plain gold jewellery included intricately designed chains, chokers, necklaces, tops, rings, bangles, kadas, bracelets and full sets.
The studded jewellery had stunning collection of pieces with diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and other precious and semi precious coloured stones. All the diamonds used in the studded jewellery would be certified by international diamond testing labs. The best of loose diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and other precious and semi-precious stones were also on sale.
He said MMTC was the first corporate house to launch branded sterling (purity 92.5 per cent) silverare in the country. Exquisite silverware gift items from the MMTC 'Sanchi' brand would be available at the Exhibition.
MMTC was also the first corporate house in India to manufactuire certified Gold and Silver mediallions in 999 purity.
The full range of these medallions from 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 20, 50, 100, 250, 500 gm and 1000 gm gold bars would be available for both gifting and investment purpose, specially in view of the festivals of Baisakhi and Akshay Tritiya.
