Hyderabad, Apr 9 (UNI) The Left parties and the Telugu Desam Party(TDP), a constituent of the United National Progressive Alliance(UNPA) will hold demonstrations in all the district headquarters of Andhra Pradesh on April 17 to protest against skyrocketing of prices of essential commodities.
Talking to newspersons here today, TDP Deputy leader T Devender Goud, CPI State Secretariat member Ramakrishna and CPI(M) State Secretariat member Y V Rao alleged that United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government at the Cenre and the Congress Government in the State remained ''indifferent'' to the sufferings of the common man hit hard by the rise in prices of essential commodities by over 300 per cent.
Dismissing the Rs two/kg rice scheme launched by the State Government as a ''publicity stunt with an eye on the next elections, they maintained that the monthly budget of each family had increased by Rs 1000 to Rs 2000.
The stir would be intensified, demanding raids to dehoard essential commodities and prevent black-marketing and press for a ban in Future Trading in 23 essential commodities and universalisation of the Public Distribution System(PDS).
While the prices of petrol and diesel had been hiked seven times, the aviation fuel had been reduced from 33 per cent to four per cent, benefitting the rich, they added.
