Koirala urges security chief to strengthen security in Nepal
Kathmandu, Apr 9 (UNI) After the death of eight persons including a candidate in Nepal, just a day for polls, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala asked the security chiefs to strengthen security situation in the country.
Koirala called the security chiefs in his official residence Baluwatar today and urged to ensure security during the polls following the death of CPN-UML candidate in Surkhet district and seven Maoists in Dang district yesterday.
Chief of Army Staff Rukmangud Katawal, Armed Police Chief Basudev Oli, Nepal Police IGP Om Bikram Rana and chief of NID Dhan Singh Karki to ensure strict security was maintained for the polling.
The security chiefs also briefed the prime minister about the security situation in the country.
Koirala met Maoists chairman Prachand and urged him to exercise restraints during the election. Nepal is holding polls tomorrow which will decide the future of monarchy.
