Chennai, Apr 9 (UNI) Officials of the Air Customs Intelligence seized 13.5 kg of Ketamine hydrocholride powder valued at Rs 1.35 crore in the international market from two Kuala Lumpur-bound passengers today.
An airport official said the customs officials intercepted a passenger Sheikh Moideen (49) of Sivaganga, who was carrying a suitcase. On examination, they found five kg of ketamine powder in 10 packets each containing half-a-kg concealed in the suitcase.
During interrogation, Moideen revealed that another passenger, carrying eight-an-half kg of ketamine powder had boarded the flight.
The officials deplaned the passenger identified as Shakeel Ahmed (33) from Royapuram in the city and recovered the narcotic substance from his baggage.
Both were handed over to the airport police, the official said.
Possession of Ketamine hydrocholride powder requires a no objection certificate from the Narcotics Commission.
