Jammu, Apr 9 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Jammu Wing today quashed the detention of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant who was detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) by the order of District Magistrate Udhampur on December 14, 2006.

The detenue Mohd Qasim alias Bittu code N/K resident of village Angralla Tehsil Mahore on the grounds that he being a hardcore over ground worker of LeT militant outfit and indulged in militancy and disrupted activities.

However, it was mentioned that on April 18, 2006, the detenue along with another person identified as Mohd Sharief, forcibly snatched AK-47 rifle of a military guard and fled away.

The gun was later recovered but the detenue along with co-accused managed to escape. However, during interrogation, it was revealed that he (Mohd Qasim) had developed links with top militants, who were usually visiting his house.

However, he developed a close relations with the top commanders of LeT outfit namely Mohd Ayoub alias Abu-Harara and Manzoor Ahmed in Mahore area of Reasi district, who were involved in many gruesome massacres and kidnappings.

The detenue challenged his detention order passed by the DM Udhampur on various grounds while Court today quashed the detention order passed by District Magistrate with the direction to release the detenue forthwith.
