New Delhi, Apr 9 (UNI) In a step towards addressing the growing needs of aviation sector, IGNOU and Aeronautical Engineering and Research Organisation (AERO) will develop a B Tech programme in aeronautical engineering.
IGNOU Pro Vice-Chancellor Omprakash Mishra said the four-year B Tech programme is a unique course to develop knowledge, awareness and professional skills in the Aeronautical Engineering.
IGNOU and AERO, Pune-based P S D Shastri Education Trust body engaged in Aviation Education and Training, signed the MoU for jointly developing the Programme.
Giving details about the programme which will commence in July 2009, an IGNOU spokesperson said its delivery will be through face mode coupled with Open Distance Learning (ODL) component.
Initially, four centres will be activated in North, South, East and West of India. Course material will be developed in collaboration with the experts engaged in the Aviation sector, he said.
The objectives of the MoU are to contribute to the development of technical professionals in the area of Aeronautical Engineering through joint design and implementation of the B. Tech. programme, to form a joint core group to oversee the planning and development of the programme and also to undertake and execute all such activities required for the fulfillment of the objectives described above.
The MoU will remain in force for five years from the date of signing.
