Jammu, Apr 9 (UNI) Five Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militants were today gunned down by the security forces during an encounter in twin districts of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior spokesman here said.
Acting on a tip-off, troops of 59 Rashtriya Rifles (ASSAM) and police eliminated four HM militants at Gulabgarh area in tehsil Mahore of Reasi district this morning, he said.
''The militants have been identified as Gazi alias Badshah Khan, District Commander Gulabgarh, Talib Bakkarwal, Battalion Commander, Basarat alias Rafiq Ahmed, Battalion Commander and Mansoor Hussain,'' the spokesman told UNI.
Two AK-47 rifles, one pistol, one UBGL, four magazines, three RPG rounds, six hand grenades, one radio set and other war like material was recovered from the encounter site, they said.
Meanwhile, in another encounter in Doda district, one Hizb militant was eliminated by the troops of 26 Rashtriya Rifles near village Sheri Chilly of tehsil Gandoh.
''The troops cordoned off the area on specific information and gunned down the 'self styled' HM commander identified as Javed Jatt,'' the spokesman said.
