CAIT Secy Gen Khandelwal inducted in Board of Trade
New Delhi, Apr 9 (UNI) Secretary General of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Praveen Khandelwal has been nominated as a member of the Board of Trade by the Union Ministry for Commerce and Industry, CAIT sources said.
It is for the first time the traders have been given representation in the Board of Trade which is headed by Dr Kumar Mangalam Birla as its Chairman and comprises of many leading industrialists of the country apart from several senior officials from different ministries of the Government.
CAIT National Executive president B C Bhartia and Delhi State Chairman Murli Mani have complimented Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath for induction of Mr Khandelwal into the Board of Trade.
On his nomination as member of the Board of Trade, Mr Khandelwal said,''at last the magnificent contribution of the trading community in the national exchequer has been recognized.'' Calling it a humble beginning of the process of restoration of dignity of traders in the country, Mr Khandelwal stressed the need for a National Trade Policy on retail trade and small industries.
He also called upon the Government to launch educational programmes nationwide for traders for upgradation of their business system into the modern format of retailing.
