Bose for discussions to ease problems of hills
Kolkata, Apr 9 (UNI) Left Front Chairman Biman Bose today expressed concern over the renewed violence in Darjeeling district and advocated for finding an amicable solution to the problem through discussions with the Centre and the state government.
In a statement here, the CPI(M) West Bengal state committee secretary said, '' Some vested interests are trying to disrupt peace in the plains and hilly areas of Darjeeling with an ulterior motive of creating division among the people on the basis of caste and language. '' '' We want development of both plains and hills and maintain the unity and amity among the masses, '' Mr Bose added.
At least 25 police personnel, including Siliguri District Superintendent of Police Pradip Kumar Dutta, were injured in clashes between the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) supporters and police at the Darjeeling More in the district during the day.
The Morcha had called for a 24-hour ''Darjeeling Bandh'' tomorrow to protest the incident.
