Kolkata, Apr 9: Left Front Chairman Biman Bose appealed to the Trinamool Congress either to withdraw or defer the proposed 12-hour 'Bangla Bandh' on April 21 as it was coinciding with the last date for withdrawal of candidature for the first and second phase of Panchayat election.
Talking to newsmen after the Left Front meeting here yesterday, Mr Bose said the bandh was deliberately called to scuttle the Panchayat election.
''Barring Howrah and Burdwan districts, the Front partners are yet to come to a consensus in other districts. But we will sort it out soon and subsequently we will release the candidates' list, '' he stated.
''We will embark on a concerted movement against the price rise in all the block and district levels from April 16 and it will continue till April 23, '' Mr Bose said adding the issue of common manifesto for the coming Panchayat election figured in the meeting.
Meanhwile, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, however, ruled out deferring or withdrawing the bandh, saying her party called the bandh earlier.
The bandh was called to protest the price rise.
