Balram Jakhar, Paras Maderna meet as ''good family friends''

Jaipur, Apr 9(UNI) Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar today met veteran Congress leader and former Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Paras Ram Maderna here.

Dr Jakhar, who was on a private visit to Rajasthan, went to Mr Maderna's residence in the city.

Both the Dr Jakhar and Mr Maderna termed the meeting a courtesy call.

They told reporters they were having familial ties and today's meeting was purely ''a family affair''.

Mr Maderna is one of the most influential Jat leaders in the Rajasthan politics who had held several key positions in the Congress organisation and governments during his five-decade long political career.

Dr Jakhar had also been enjoying substantial acceptance and influence in the Jat leadership in Rajasthan and had represented Sikar and Bikaner Parliamentary constituencies in the Lok Sabha.

Congress State President C P Joshi had refused to comment on their meeting and said they were ''good family friends''.

However, political observers felt their meeting might lead to new political equation in the Jat politics ahead of the Assembly elections in the state.
