Sri Lanka blast kills at least 9
Columbo, April 6, 2008 : Sri Lanka's highways minister and at least nine others killed on April 6 in a suspected suicide attack by Tamil Tiger rebels near Colombo. The explosion took place in the town of Weliveriya, 30 km or 19 miles from the capital, Colombo, where Fernandopulle had gone to flag off a marathon race.
According to reports the explosion took place when the race was about to begin. 10 people were killed and 25 were injured by the explosion.
