Sacha Sauda chief wants statements on record

Chandigarh, Apr 8 (UNI) Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh today prayed to the Punjab and Haryana High Court to direct the CBI to place on record the statements of his former driver Khatta Singh, some female inmates of Dera and others recorded by the agency in connection with cases of murder and rape registered against him.

The Dera chief also sought directions against the framing of charges against him by the special trial court in Ambala till the relevant documents are placed on record by the CBI.

Justice L N Mittal adjourned the hearing on the plea in all three matters to May 1.

The cases pertain to the murders of Ram Chander Chhatrapati, a journalist from Sirsa, former Dera manager Ranjit Singh of village Khanpur Kaulian, district Kurukashetra and rape of female inmates of the Dera.

The CBI had undertaken the probe on the High Court's orders and it has already filed chargesheets against the petitioner and trial is on before the special judge, Ambala.
