Azamgarh, Apr 8: Unleashing vitrio on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for issuing statement against Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi for his pro-Dalit activities yesterday, Congress secretary Digvijay Singh today said Rahul has done nothing new, but followed the path shown by his ancestors.
''Rahul Gandhi is following the path of his ancestors, who had always expressed their concern for poor and downtroddens of society. Spending time with such families is nothing new to Nehru-Gandhi family, '' Mr Singh said while talking to mediapersons here. Rahul is meeting poor and dalits to learn their problems, whereas Mayawati, who calls herself 'Dalit ki Beti' and Dalits well wisher is ruling the state by keeping a distance with the general public.
Favouring Mayawati's stand on BKU leader Mahendra Singh Tikait, he said '' insulting someone by making caste based remark is wrong and Congress supports UP CM act of arresting Tikait.'' However, he asserted that Mayawati should recall that she had booked Tikait under the law, which was made during Rajiv Gandhi's regime.
