Powerful explosives recovered in Siliguri

Siliguri, Apr 08: The CID's bomb disposal squad today recovered 2-3 kgs of powerful explosives, suspected to be RDX, from a house at Rajibnagar area under Pradhannagar police station here.

Darjeeling Superintendent of Police Rahul Srivastav said, ''Based on the information provided by three persons arrested on April 4 in connection with a blast at Siliguri, the CID raided the house and recovered the explosives.'' A powerful blast had occurred near the Siliguri Circuit House at Samarnagar under Champasari police station on April 3, killing three persons. Police also recovered a large number of explosive devices from the spot.

Police had arrested one Dipen Rai, alais Akash, Furba Tamang and Karna Bahadur Rai in connection with the blast while they were trying to enter Nepal on April 4. During interrogation Akash had revealed that he was a Bhutanese refugee from Beldangi Refugee camp-2 in Nepal's Jhapa district and was staying with the other victims in Siliguri since the last few months.
