Punjab: 1 arrested with Rs 23 lakh fake notes
Amritsar, Apr 8: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence arrested one person and siezed counterfeiting Indian currency worth Rs 23 lakh from his possession.
According to DRI officials, Taseem Akbar, a resident of Shamli in Sharanpur, who was going in a jeep, was intercepted near new Amritsar on NH-1 yesterday. On his search fake notes of Rs 500 denomination were recovered from a hidden cavity of his jeep.
During the interrogation it was found that he had already made five trips to the city and had supplied fake notes worth Rs 45 lakh to other states.
