Metered radio taxi service 'Meru' launched in B'lore
Bangalore, Apr 8 (UNI) V-Link Taxis today announced the launch of 'Meru,' a metered radio taxi service in Bangalore, with deployment of 500 'Logan' air-conditioned vehicles.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr George Thomas, Partner of India Value Fund, which had invested in the V-Link Taxis, said out of 500 taxis, 400 would be dedicated to the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) and would start operations on May 11.
All Meru cabs would be fitted with electronic meters and printers and would use GPS-based technology to enable real-time location and dispatch.
These taxis were priced at Rs 15 per km as prescribed by the Karnataka Government, he said.
The company already launched its operations in Delhi and Hyderabad last month. The first launched was in Mumbai last year and had received good customer response, he added.
''We are in unique position to expand our radio taxi business across India as we have gained tremendous experience in the demanding Mumbai market over the last year,'' he said.
Meru was modeled on the best cab services in the world like in Singapore and London. ''What private airlines have done to invigorate air travel in India, Meru intends to do with cab services,'' Thomas added.
