Maya re-attacks Rahul for pro-dalit activities
Gonda, Apr 7 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today reiterated that Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's pro-dalit activities were merely a facade and also warned the dalit community to be beware of such acts.
''Rahul Gandhi is pretending as 'Dalit messiah' by spending nights with them,'' Chief Minister maintained during an election campaign here in Kadipur of Karnalganj Lok Sabha constituency, which is scheduled to go to the bypolls on April 12.
Launching a scathing attack on Congress, Ms Mayawati said ''State government has demanded Rs 80,000 crore from the Centre for development, which is yet awaited.'' However, Rahul Gandhi was busy in showing proximity to Dalits by sharing food with them, she added.
''Such act will no way help the poor people,'' the Chief Minister sarcastically added.
Lauding her government, she said crime rate had shown remarkable decrease in the BSP regime, however, the opposition, especially Samajwadi Party, had charged her of working under political vendetta.
Countering the allegations, she said if it had been true, the SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav would have been behind the bars.
Holding the Congress and the BJP responsible for the dismal condition of the state, Ms Mayawati said, ''Both parties have ruled the state and the Centre for long, but did nothing for its development.'' The Chief Minister claimed that her party candidates would win in the upcoming bypolls.
