HC directs action against Rockland hospital

New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) Delhi High Court today directed the DDA to take action against Rockland hospital for misusing the land given to them on concessional rates at the Qutab Institutional Area in South Delhi.

A bench comprising Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rekha Sharma asked the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to reply by April 29 as TO why they have not taken any action against the hospital as it has violated the conditions of land allotment.

The monitering Committee (MC) looking into the violations of illegal constructions told the court today that Land was alloted to societies which were engaged in works of noble purpose in the Qutab Institutional Area at concessional rates.

The Rockland Hospital had been alloted land for a running a cancer research institute and had taken exemptions from the Income-Tax epartment also. Later, the hospital engaged itself in commercial activities like any other private nursing home, wherby flouting the rules of allotment of the land.

The hospital society has been flouting the rules for the last one year. DDA Vice-Chairman had also recommended the cancellation of its lease a year ago, but no action has been taken against the hospital so far, the MC told the court.

The Court directed the DDA to submit all records of the hospital alongwith their balance sheet and records of the charges they are imposing on the patients by April 29, the next date of hearing.
