Kolkata, Apr 8 (UNI) There were good demands for new season's CTC Dooars brokens and orthodox varieties in Kolkata tea auctions, that ended on April 2.
The Doors brokens were sold between Rs 100-120 per kg, while fannings of the same variety were sold between Rs 100-111. Best variety of Assam brokens were sold between Rs 129-151, while good variety was sold between Rs 110-120.
CTC's Assam variety fannings were sold at Rs 112-119.
There were no response from major blenders and packeteers.
However, there were some enquiries from Duncans and from the Western India in general. About 167,404.40 kgs of the CTC variety were in the auction sale No 14.
There was limited quantity on offer of Darjeeling variety.
Local buyers were predominant and a few exporters showed interest in this variety. About 10,099.40 kgs of the Darjeeling variety were sold last week.
Orthodox variety also did well with sales doing better than last year. Whole leaf variety was sold at Rs 120-140, GBOP betewen Rs 120-125, FBOP between Ra 100-115. Major blenders remained quiet for orthodox variety as well. There were several inquiries from CIS, West Asia for the new season variety, while the old season stock did well in North India. The Orthodox variety saw sale of 29,141.60 kgs.
The dust variety of tea was sold about 25,736.60 kgs.
