Centre grants Rs 29.2 million to Karnataka for watershed programme

New Delhi, Apr 8 : The Ministry of Rural Development has granted Rs 29.2 million to Karnataka under Haryali Guidelines for the financial year 2007-08.

The Haryali Guidelines include Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWDP) in the four districts of the State.

The districts are Uttar Kannada, Shimoga, Chitradurga and Raichur, in which the allocated funds will be given to the concerned Zilla Parishads.

The Uttar Kannada and the Shimoga District Zilla Parishads have been granted Rs.8.24 million and Rs. 4.02million for the Project-II of the Integrated Watershed Management Programme as the balance amount of the 3rd instalment to implement the programme.

The Chitradurga District Zilla Parishad has got an allocation of Rs 4.04 million for the Project-III of the Integrated Watershed Management Programme as the balance amount of the 4th instalment to implement the programme.

In the case of Raichur District Zilla Parishad Rs. 3.65 million as the balance amount of 7th and final instalment for the Project-II, Rs 4.12 million as balance amount of the 4th instalment for the Project-III and Rs.5.16 million as part of payment of the 3rd instalment has been earmarked for the implementation of the IWDP. The balance amount of Rs.8.11 million will be released in due course.

The Ministry has further clarified that further instalments of funds will be released only after the submission of Quarterly Progress Report, Utilisation Certificate and Audiited Statement of Accounts.
