8694 metric tonne wheat procured in Haryana
Chandigarh, Apr 8 (UNI) The Haryana government has procured 8694 metric tonnes of wheat out of the total arrival of 8970 metric tonnes in the mandis of the state this season.
Stating this here today, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that the arrival of the wheat was increasing day by day and during the last seven days 8970 metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis of the state.
Mr Chander Mohan said Food and Supplies Department has purchased 5147 metric tonnes of wheat followed by Haryana Warehousing Corporation 1636 metric tonnes. Confed has procured 1303 metric tonnes, Hafed 608 metric tonnes and traders has purchased 276 metric tonnes of wheat.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that during the last Rabi season, 37.37 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis and out of this 33.50 lakh metric tonnes was procured by the six government agencies. Besides, 3.87 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was purchased by the traders.
Similarly, in the 2006-07 as much as 30.20 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis and out of this 22.30 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was purchased by the procuring agencies. The remaining 7.90 lakh metric tonnes was purchased by the traders.
Mr Chander Mohan said that Faridabad district has topped in the arrival of wheat with 8072 metric tonnes followed by Mewat 320 metric tonnes, Karnal 163 metric tonnes, Kurukshetra 131 metric tonnes and Gurgaon 115 metric tonnes.
