Imphal, Apr 7: The association of the Public Transport Vehicle owners, providing taxi services along the Imphal-Moreh road on the National Highway 39, suspended taxi services indefinitely for the third day today.

The Moreh-Imphal Jeep and Tata Sumo Taxi Service Welfare Association said the service was suspended to protest the extortion demands from many underground groups.

Following the stir, transport services to Moreh, the main trading centre between Manipur and Myanmar, were disrupted.

The association said it will continue the stir until the militant organisations withdrew their extortion demands.

Meanwhile, passenger services along the Tiddim and Imphal-Churachandpur roads will also remain suspended for an indefinite period from tomorrow.

Some militant organisation had demanded Rs 3,000 each from the vehicle owners and to protest the demand, the drivers have decided to stay away from the highway.
