Govt to take steps to check vegetable prices
Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 7:Admitting that Kerala was facing acute price hike of vegetables, Kerala Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran today said the Government would take all possible measures to check the prices within two days.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the Government would take immediate measures to procure vegetables from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, besides stern measures to control the monopoly of procuring vegetables from Idukki.
He said a joint conference of Agriculture, Civil Supplies and Horticulture departments would chalk out strategies to bring down the prices.
Though Idukki district was producing sufficient vegetables, all the produce were collected by retail giants, he said, adding that the Government would procure vegetables directly from farmers.
