Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) An expert committee would be appointed to study and submit report on the division of three districts -- Thane, Nashik and Beed -- of Maharashtra, announced Revenue Minister Narayan Rane in the state Legislative Council here today.
It may be mentioned that all the political parties were pressing for division of Thane, the second biggest district in the country after Kutch, into two.
Replying to the discussion on demands of his department, he said the revenue income has increased by 106 per cent.
The Minister said the encroachment at the Indrayani river, which is allegedly causing floods in the adjoining areas, would be personally checked by him and the commissioner soon.
