Central Team in TN to assess rain damage

Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, Apr 6: A five-member Central team headed by Union Home Department Joint Secretary Dharmendra Sharma today visited the rain-ravaged Chidambram in Cuddalore District of the State to assess damage and loss to crops.

Mr Sharma, accompanied by Mr Dheenanath of Central Expenditure Department among others, also interacted with representatives of farmers and non-government organisations.

According to the schedule, the team would visit the flood- affected areas of Tiruchirapalli, Tiruvarur, Tirunelveli and Tutucorin Districts till April eight and hold a meeting with Revenue Minister I Periyasamy and high officials on April nine at the State Secretariat. They would leave for New Delhi the same day.

During their visit, the team would also hold discussions with the District Collectors and analyse the extent of damage. Finally, they would submit a report to the Centre.
