Purvanchal organisation demands independent status for Mumbai
Gorakhpur, Apr 6 (UNI) In the wake of attacks on North Indians in Mumbai, Purvanchal Rajya Banao organisation today asked the government to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra and give it a status of independant state ruled by Centre.
Various organisations participated in the meeting led by the Purvanchal Rajya Banao organisation, where it was decided that the organisation will convence all representatives of Purvanchal to send a letter to the UPA government at the Centre to order immediate arrest of Raj Thackery and other constitution voilaters.
The organisation convener Dr Sudhakar Pandey said ''North Indians are being harassed at many places, including Maharashtra and Assam, where these poor people go in search of bread, but face rage of the local population.'' We had been demanding a separate Purvanchal state and will now intensify our struggle, he added.
