Barasat, Apr 6 (UNI) All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) supremo Mamata Banerjee today called upon the women to fearlessly outwit the ruling CPI(M) in the coming panchayat elections in West Bengal.

''This will be the befitting reply to the CPI(M)'s misrule in the state, where women are continuously subjected to torture,'' she said.

Addressing the Trinamool Mahila Congress Coference at Settpukur Maidan here this afternoon, Ms Banerjee criticized the Left Front government for ruling the state with terror, especially in the rural areas.

''Women from all walks of life should come out for a strong movement, so that the CPI(M) hoodlums cannot rig the panchayat elections,'' she said.

She congratulated the women of Singur and Nandigram, who relentlessly continued their fight for their land.

The mammoth gathering of Women Congress delegates and members, assembled for the one-day conference here, was also addressed by several eminent party leaders.
