Srinagar, Apr 6: All the 17 Tibetans, arrested in the prohibited area of Nyoma near China border in Leh, have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).
Official sources said the Tibetan refugees had entered from the Nyoma area which has been declared restricted by the Jammu and Kashmir government because it borders China. ''Anyone who wanted to visit Nyoma, about 180 km from Leh, has to get permission from the authorities,'' they said, adding that since the Tibetans had no such sanction, they were arrested.
Sources said they were detained under the PSA as they wanted to cross over to the other side of the border, reportedly to join the demonstration against China's action against Tibetans in Lhasa.
Tibetan refugees took to streets last week to protest against China in the summer capital here.
