Teargas-lathicharge in Srinagar, about a dozen injured, 6 arrested
Srinagar, Apr 5 (UNI) About a dozen people were injured today when police burst teargas shells and resorted to baton charge to disperse a mob, protesting against the ill-treatment of Kashmiri detenues in different jails in and outside the state.
Six people were also taken into custody, official sources said.
They said a group of people assembled at Nowhatta in the down town city and started pelting stones at police personnel and passing vehicles.
Police resorted to baton charge to disperse them which had no affect on demonstrators.
Later, the police fired teargass shells to disperse the mob, the sources said, adding about a dozen people were injured in the incident.
