New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) For the second day in succession, Delhi experienced overnight rain maintaining the coolness in the air and plummeting mercury by several degrees.
The rain, which followed a heavy downpour last evening, brought down mercury by several degrees, maintaining the coolness in the air in the city.
The maximum dropped three degrees from 30 degrees C yesterday to 27 degrees. The minimum also dropped from 19 degrees yesterday to 17 degrees, one degree below normal.
With the overnight rain, the capital recorded a total rainfall of 22 mm over the last 24 hours in the Safdarjung area while 6.8 mm rainfall was recorded in the Palam region till 0830 hours.
More rainfall could be expected during the next 24 hours with weathermen forecasting a cloudy sky in Delhi with possibility of one or two spells of rainfall. There is also a possibility of hailstorms or thunderstorms in some areas.
After the unusual heat experienced in Delhi, this week witnessed a cooling in the air due to rains and thundershowers induced by a fresh Western disturbance.
