Miscreants loot over Rs 23 lakh in Arunachal
Itanagar, Apr 05 (UNI) Unknown miscreants intercepted a private vehicle on way to Sagalee under Papum Pare district in Arunachal Pradesh and looted Rs 23.27 lakh from a person at gun point.
Papum Pare Superintendent of Police (SP) Hibu Tamang said here today that two gun-totting miscreants intercepted the vehicle yesterday around 15 km from Doimukh and snatched away a bag containing the cash from one Lalit Singh, a private collector of Sagalee Branch of the Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank.
Mr Singh had withdrawn the money from the Naharlagun SBI branch and boarded the private vehicle bound for Sagalee when the miscreants on a motorcycle intercepted it.
The duo snatched away the vehicle key from the driver, fired a shot in the air from a pistol before divesting Mr Singh and a lady of their bags and speeding back towards Doimukh.
A police team was dispatched immediately which recovered the bike from a jungle about half a kilometre from the spot, the SP informed, adding a massive manhunt was launched to nab the looters.
