Malawi Government approves Madonna's adoption bid

Washington, Apr 5 : Pop icon Madonna is set to win her bid to adopt Malawian boy David Banda after the Malawi Government gave its approval for her bid.

Malawian officials visited Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie to see how they were coping with David in their home earlier this year.

According to The Mirror, they found David a "lively and happy and thriving" little boy and one who was enjoying a "warm and loving" relationship with both Madonna and Ritchie.

The Malawian social workers praised Madonna as a mother and said the couple had "shown a strong commitment in providing love, a safe and stimulating home, care, protection and emotional support".

The Malawi High Court will hear the adoption plea next week.
