KPT celebrates 45th National Maritime Day
Gandhidham, Gujarat, Apr 5 (UNI) The 45th National Maritime Day was celebrated by the Kandla Port Trust (KPT) at its headquarters here today.
Speaking at the function, KPT Chairman Pravin Kumar Agrawal said, ''KPT has taken the top position in cargo handling, compared to 12 other Central Government ports, with clearance of 53 million metric tonnes (MMT) in year 2007-08, which was higher by 22.48 per cent as compared to year 2006-07.'' The average cargo handling growth of other 12 ports was 11.91 per cent, while KPT attained the growth rate of 12.5 per cent, Mr Agrawal said.
Disclosing the future plans of KPT, Mr Agrawal claimed that the present 12 berths of KPT would be raised to 16 with the addition of four new berths by 2010.
