Jamiat Ulema expels Maulana Arshad, others
New Delhi, Apr 05 (UNI) One of the oldest and largest Muslim body Jamiat Ulema-E-Hind, which has been beset with internal crisis for the past about one year, today expelled Maualna Arshad Madani from its primary membership.
The decision, taken by the Executive on March six, was finally endorsed at a meeting of the Central Managing Committee here today.
A resolution passed at the meeting condemned Maulana Arshad's ''anti-organisation activities'' in forming a parallel Jamiat, and divested him and all those included in the parallel body from the primary membership of the organisation.
It said the Jamiat was governed by a constitution which authorises the Executive and the managing committee to take any decision in the interest of the body.
The meeting endorsed the decison taken by the Jamiat Executive on March six dislodging Maulana Arshad Madani and appointing Maulana Sayed Mohammad Usman Mansoori, deputy administrator Darul Uloom Deoband, as interim president. It also appointed him as president for the current year.
The Central Managing Committee passed other resolutions, condemning terrorism and describing it as anti-Islamic. It also protested against the attempts to link it with Islam.
One of the resolution demanded implementation of the Sachar and Ranganath Mishra Committee Reports on Muslims.
Besides, the Jamiat demanded reservation for all backward Muslims and amendment in the Wakf Act to make it more beneficial to the community.
It also passed a resolution supporting the demands of Palestinians for self-rule.
