Hacker gets money transferred from Bishop's account
Port Blair, Apr 5 (UNI) In a fresh incident of cyber crime, a miscreant has allegedly got money transferred from the account of Reverand Bishop Alex Dias into his by hacking Bishop's e-mail ID.
Superintendent of Police (CID) V Ranganathan told UNI here today that the hacker has also fooled some of the Bishop's friends to get the money transferred.
Rev Dias in his complaint alleged that an unidentified person had sent him an e-mail asking for his some personal information, including the password of e-mail ID.
''The miscreant in an e-mail sent to the Bishop's friends had mentioned that the Bishop had got stranded in Nigeria and needed 2500 Euros be sent through Western Union Money Transfer immediately,'' the SP said.
A few of his friends have even sent some money but in one case the payment was fortunately stopped after they called up the Bishop to know about his whereabouts just to realise that somebody was hacking the Bishop's e-mail ID.
Police said investigation was on to nab the culprit and has also urged all the people not to reveal their personal details to strangers.
