New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) The BJP, which has many firsts to its credit in introducing modern technology in its working, has achieved yet another feat.

It has now become the first political party to have its own web connectivity between the party's headquarters and its state units.

The system which is already in vogue in corporate sectors is sought to be accepted in political governance. ''By introducing e-mail system in politics it will herald an era of instant messaging, video conferencing, Internet Protocol faxing etc, BJP President Rajnath Singh said after launching the new system developed by the party's Information Technology Cell. The system will have connectivity with the state headquarters and in the coming months and years, even district units will get connected, he said.

He said in the first phase of the email system, the party woul provide text facility to 300 top leaders and another 3000 next month in the next phase. During the next quarter, about 30,000 party workers will get the facility and in the next six months to 300,000 workers. The party headquarter will now have wi-fy connectivity.

Explaining the facilities, IT Cell Covenor Pradyut Vohra said the intention of the party was to connect the offices with individual karyakartas through modern communication tools and enable them to leverage the benefits of technology to do their work better.

In the first stage it would be Party to Members (P2M) wherein all the party offices will get connected through high-speed internet connections to Central Office and other offices. The party will provide its workers and office bearers with email, instant messaging, fax over IP, Voice over IP, Video over IP and Video Conferencing facilities.

In the next stage it will be Party to Public (P2P) where the party would use the technology to reach out to public. all state units will have their own websites in English and regional languages. All these initiatives will be carried out by IT cells and the Centre and States.

Mr Singh however skirted the question about the cost saying that it can be known only when the project was completed in states too.
