All-Steel housing complex to come up in Rajarhat by year-end
Kolkata, Apr 05 (UNI) Living Steel Programme Director Scoot Chubbs today said the "All-Steel" residential complex would come up in the eastern fringes of the city by this year end.
Addressing newspersons at a workshop on "Residential Solutions in Steel" under the aegis of collaborative international programme Living Steel, the company's programme director said that the project that was taken up in collaboration with Bengal Shrachi two years back, will come up at Rajarhat, in the eastern fringes of the city, within this year-end.
'' Steel has emerged as one of the most versatile engineering and construction material in the world over in the recent years. Its construction advantages would help solve the problem of housing shortage more effectively,'' Mr Chubbs said.
Bengal Shrachi Managing Director Rahul Todi, who was also present on the occasion, said their main aim was to promote usage of steel in the housing sector.
Bengal Shrachi and Living Steel inked a MoU in this regard on March 25, 2006.
Mr Chubbs announced that the design for the Rajarhat complex has already been finalised and work will begin soon.
According to experts, usage of steel for building construction would combat the high temperatures of Indian summers, especially in case of designs for residential buildings by reflecting the heat and other ventillation facilities. Steel also offers design freedom in colour, feature and shape that cannot be accomplished by other building materials.
