TN Govt to launch cable TV operations from July 15
Chennai, Apr 4 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government will launch its Cable TV operations in three phases from July to September this year.
Two days after the Centre gave the nod for the State to launch its Arasu Cable TV Corporation, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi chaired a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat to discuss the modalities of the launch, an official release here said today.
The meeting decided to launch Cable TV service on July 15 in the districts of Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Namakkal, Karur, Salem, Dindigul, Tiruchirapalli, Pudukottai, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Villuppuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam, in the first phase.
In the second phase on August 15, it would be extended to Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, Madurai, Tuticorin, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Theni, Tiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Vellore, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts. Chennaites would get the service during the third and final phase on September 15, coinciding with late Chief Minister C N Annadurai's birth anniversary.
The meeting also decided that Arasu Cable TV Corporation would take immediate steps to float open tenders for procuring all equipment required for launching the service.
The meeting was attended, among others, by the State Home Secretary, Finance Secretary, the IT and Communications Secretary and the Chairman and Managing Director of the Corporation.
