Suzhou rolls out red carpet for Indian IT industry

Bangalore, Apr 4 (UNI) The 'paradise city' of Suzhou in China today rolled out a red carpet for Indian IT companies, looking to expand their footprint in the orient, by offering excellent business opportunities in the service outsourcing sector.

At a press conference here, Ms Furong Tian, Head, India China Economic and Cultural Council, said the IT industry in Suzhou was growing rapidly at an annual rate of over 40 per cent and the present IT industry turnover was US Dollar 69 billion, of which software contributed US Dollar 3.5 billion.

She said 122 of the Fortune 500 companies had invested in 375 companies in Suzhou. Proximity to Shanghai and availability of vast pool of human talent made Suzhou an attractive investment destination in China for the Indian IT industry.

With 18 universities and many software vocational training institutes, Suzhou generated 20,000 jobs for new graduates every year. Availability of excellent infrastructure for service outsourcing like Suzhou Software Park, the International Science Park, Suzhou science and Technology town, Intellectual Property Protection Centre and IC Design Centre made it an attractive business destination, Ms Tian added.

The Suzhou Municipal's People's Governments organised a seminar to present the business opportunities in the city.

Indian entities like Zaza Technologies, Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Capgemini Group, Sunpa Sobha Software, Patni Computer, Logistic Solutions, Hero Mindmine and Excelerate Technology signed an MoU with Suzhou to explore investment opportunities.
