Islamabad, Apr 4 : For the first time, Pakistan military sources have confirmed that it was the US which was launching the pilotless attacks on tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.

"The US officials have ensured Pakistan that attacks would be made after a 100 per cent confirmation about the target to avoid any risk of civilian casualties", the BBC quoted the sources, as saying.

However, they ruled out the impression that the US backed actions were being carried out from Jaccobabad or any other airbase in Pakistan.

The sources also termed the news items published in the US newspapers as baseless, which stated that Pakistan Army misused American military aid.

There are almost 30,000 American soldiers in Afghanistan, and the US is spending 80,000 dollar a month on each soldier, but American military aid for Pakistan's 1,12,000 soldiers is comparatively much less, the sources said.

They added that more than 1000 Pakistani soldiers have lost their lives in tribal areas, and expenses to look after the families of deceased and injured army personnel are more than the US aid.

The sources said that the army was expecting that after establishment of the new government, the lack of a political process in tribal areas which was ignored in the past while waging a war on terror against Taliban would be given due consideration.
