Octroi collections rise by 19 pc, bonus plans for employees
Mumbai, Apr 4 (UNI) The octroi collections of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has gone up by 19 per cent in the current financial year and the department has decided to give the employees an incentive or bonus for their work, the BMC commissioner Jairaj Phatak said, here today.
Addressing his weekly media conference here today, Mr Phatak said that the collections of octroi has gone up to more than Rs 4,200 crores from the previous year's collection, which was approximately Rs 3,500 crores.
In view of this rise in collections, a proposal to give the employees an incentive is with the group leaders of various parties in the corporation, Mr Phatak said, adding, ''We have decided to reward the employees for their good work and are waiting for decision of the group leaders.'' Octroi is one of the highest revenue earners for the corporation alongwith property tax, Mr Phatak stated.
