Kathmandu, Apr 4 : The Nepal Tibet Solidarity Committee (NTSC) has postponed its protests here in view of the April 10 general elections.

"Despite the critical situation in Tibet, where human rights violations are taking place, and realizing the importance of our host country Nepal's upcoming historic election, we request all individuals and Tibet supporters who have been voluntarily organizing various peaceful demonstrations to refrain from carrying out any activity that can create inconvenience to the government and people of Nepal during the election," ekantipur.com quoted the statement as saying.

The Committee was scheduled to commence its demonstrations from April 7.

Tibetans have been launching demonstrations since March 10 against what they call Chinese crackdown against Tibetan protestors in Lhasa

On Tuesday, in a letter written to Koirala, Amnesty International (AI) and Human Rights Watch (HRW) have strongly criticized the Nepal Government for the crackdown on the ongoing demonstrations of Tibetans in Kathmandu after March 10.

They also alleged that Nepali police have arrested and detained more than 1,500 people and pre-emptively arrested others they believe likely to participate in demonstrations, targeting in particular, anyone they believe to be Tibetans since March 10.
