Visakhapatnam, Apr 4 (UNI) Supported by Rohit Sharma's well struck century, Mumbai defeated Tamil Nadu by 59 runs, in the All India one day inter-zone Vijay Hazare trophy quarter finals here today.
Winning the toss, Mumbai elected to bat and scored 285 in 50 overs losing nine wickets. Indian player Rohit Sharma scored 100 in 89 balls, including eight fours and three sixes. S Kukreja who scored 69 with seven fours, partnered with Rohith to score 119 runs for the second wicket. A M Rahne with 32 runs was the third main scorer for Mumbai.
For Tamil Nadu, medium pacer P Amarnath and off spinner R Ashwin picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Tamil Nadu scored 226 for eight, in 50 overs.
M K Shiva Kumar was unbeaten on 56, including eight fours. Indian player K Dinesh Karthick scored 47, with seven boundaries and V Yo Mahesh was unbeaten on 30, with three fours.
M K Shivakumar and Mahesh put up a ninth wicket partnership of unbeaten 80 runs.
Among Mumbai bowlers, Usman Kalvi and Iqbal Abdulla emerged successful picking three wickets, giving 25 and 29 runs, respectively.
Mumbai will play Bengal in Semifinal on April seven.
