Lucknow, Apr 4 (UNI) Senior Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader and Rajya Sabha member Satish Chandra Mishra tonight resigned from the chairmanship of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.
Mr Mishra had succeeded Bollywood actor and Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Jaya Bachchan in the post in June last.
Sources said the resignation of Mr Mishra, also the BSP general secretary, is said to be the party's move to allow him to plead before the Allahabad High Court in cases of the Mayawati government.
Mr Mishra was also the former Advocate General of the state during the 2002 BSP government.
