Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 4 (UNI) The Kerala Government has decided to waive the plantation tax on tea plantations for 2007-08, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the Cabinet had taken a decision in this regard in view of the crisis faced by the tea plantations in the state.
In order to make the administration of the State Head Load Workers Welfare Board more effective, the government had decided to dismantle the existing 34 committees, to reorganise 14 state committees and set up a special committee for Cochin Shipyard area, he said adding that the cabinet had decided to seek the approval of governor for the ordinance in this regard.
Mr Achuthandan said the government would procure paddy from cultivators at the rate of Rs ten during this season also.
