New Delhi, Apr.4 : Nearly 200 prominent individuals in government, business, academia, policy, media and the armed forces from India and the world will gather at the India Global Forum, organised by The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), in association with Citi (formerly Citigroup), between April 18 and 20 here to examine factors responsible for India's emergence as a "Great Power".

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will host a reception for key conference delegates, while Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath will deliver the opening dinner address.

While the plenary sessions and formal addresses of the conference will offer a public platform for ministers, corporate leaders and global experts to focus on India's emerging role, the break-out groups provide an opportunity for the invited officials and experts to explore the key issues more deeply and to analyse current and future policy trends in a private setting.

"We are excited about this unique opportunity to jointly convene The IISS-Citi India Global Forum. It will bring together global influencers and thought leaders onto a common platform to discuss themes from a diverse spectrum of disciplines that converge to drive India's public policy and its influence on the world stage. India is a key part of Citi's global strategy and this initiative offers us another opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to India's development,' according to Sanjay Nayar, Chief Executive Officer of Citi India and Area Head, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

The India Global Forum is unique as it highlights the key issues where economics, business, politics and security converge, including India's search for energy security and stability, transnational security challenges, and India's defence diplomacy. At a time when India's economic growth drives greater engagement and influence in the world, the conference will provide a comprehensive strategic assessment of India's rise as a great power.
