New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said the Government was vigilant to control 'abnormal' rise in prices of essential commodities in the city.
Reacting to the criticism of the state Government over the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities in Delhi, Ms Dikshit said,''as a city state, we are extremely vigilant and try to nip in the bud any abnormal rise in price of essential commodities in Delhi.'' In a booming economy like India, there was bound to be some rise in prices of essential commodities, she added.
''In an economy that is in boom, there is bound to be some price rise. But we are vigilant. In fact, our Minister for Food and civil supplies has gone from shop to shop to monitor any abnormal price rise.
Further, suprise raids were being carried out to check illegal hoarding of essential commodities. In fact, recently the government detected a case of several thousands kg of rice being taken out of the Public Distribution System, the Chief Minister said, WARNING that those found indulging in black marketing would be severely punished.
